Why Wildlife Photography?

Hi.

Im Steve Bartlett and welcome to my website.

Thanks to the help of friends in the Somerset Levels and Moors, not only in locating suitable subjects but also permitting me, with camera equipment, hides and nets, on and over their lands and property, this my local patch has produced some memorable wildlife encounters.

Inclement weather, back aching treks loaded with equipment, a lack of facilities, conveniences and company are all immaterial! Failure from the point of view of photo capture (a timid deer or a wary fox is not always the most co-operative of subjects) is excusable! The truth is that every excursion is a delight. In wetlands, moors, hills, forest, wood, quarry, lake, ditch, barn, hedge or hide the pleasure of up-close encounters with mammals, birds, reptiles, or insects is a privelege and moreover an education in itself.
Sometimes that close behavioural study of wild animals in their natural habitat over days and often weeks is intimate. Often no one else witnesses it. Observing wildlife strive to survive has produced over time a mix of emotions- highs and lows but magic moments.

I am pleased to share some of those moments from nature with you in the photographs presented.
I hope you enjoy.

Steve
